Historical Sites

The Saronic Greek Island of Aegina has a long and interesting history. Most of the island's historical sites are open throughout the summer season and welcome visitors. I'll be adding more once I've visited them myself and can add first-hand experience and my own photos.

Tower of Marcellus

This intriguing-looking Venitian tower once belonged to Spyridon Markello who bought and rebuilt it as his home in the late 17th Century. Since then it housed the anti-government and Administrative Committee (1826-1828). Then it was the National Fund Building and later it became the base of the island's Governor. It is no longer open to the public.
