Animal Welfare on Aegina
This is one of my passions so I was thrilled not to see too many strays during my first visit to Aegina. Certainly, there weren't cats begging at the restaurants and tavernas. So I hope I am not overly optimistic when I say that the animal charities and volunteers are doing a magnificent job.
From the activity on their Facebook page, this is a really dedicated and busy group of volunteers who look after lots of street cats between them
Horse & Buggy Rides
I confess that I was surprised to see horse-and-buggies on Aegina port. I'd thought this was only to be found on Spetses. I will investigate more next time but was happy to see the horses had good shade.
Hellenic Wildlife Hospital
Even though the stickers on the sign make it look as though this doesn't exist, it definitely does and is on my to-do list for my next visit.
